He definitely never got a chance to slow the thing before it exploded so I wasn't surprised to see the speed it was going. But the angle did, as you say, make it appear that it had an elevation change. It also makes the sand pit look like it's only 10' long but I guess it's much bigger. So was that just the lid that flew into the air then?
